Happy New Year! In our meeting at the beginning of January, the membership elected a new slate of Officers, including Sean Paine as the new President and Michael Traverse as Vice President. John Economou, a past president, will serve as Treasurer. Please join me in congratulating them. We look forward to an exciting year of activity, and therefore we are making a special offer to encourage past members and new members alike to join the Association. Current and past members can renew their membership for only $100. The cost for a new membership is $125. (We also offer a special rate for multiple auctioneers who operate under the same company name.)
If you return the enclosed application by February 15, 2010, we will include your company?s name and your personal information in our 2010 membership directory, which will be inserted into an upcoming edition of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. This publication distributes over 11,000 copies and is read by approximately 100,000 lawyers in Massachusetts every week. You may also visit our website, www.massauctioneers.com to fill out our online application form OR join us at our next meeting: Monday, March 1, 2010 at Ken?s Steak House in Framingham at 7:00 p.m. Cocktail hour begins at 6:00.
As we turn the calendar to a new decade, our industry faces new challenges ? obstacles and issues that can be best resolved if we can work together as a united voice. Some of these challenges include a constantly-changing political and legal climate with regard to foreclosure sales, the growing effort of out-of-state auctioneers who misrepresent themselves and leave our membership to deal with the aftermath, and the constant mission of keeping pace with rapidly-developing technology.
As such, our new President is placing a priority on growing the membership to new heights, to exposing the membership to thoughtful, topical speakers and discussions at each meeting, and restoring our annual Spring Convention to an event that should not be missed. Please be on the lookout for future mailings from the Association announcing our upcoming events.
